English Breakfast Tea is one of the most popular and widely recognized black teas in the western world. English breakfast tea is full-bodied, robust, and rich, and are commonly enjoyed with milk or cream and sugar.
The most common black tea blended in English Breakfast tea isAssam Tea, though it commonly also includes Ceylon Tea, Kenyan Tea, and Keemun Tea as well. Some say that “English breakfast tea” actually originated in Edinburgh, Scotland as “Scottish breakfast tea” and Queen Victoria popularized the drink in England, where merchants modified the name.
Assam Tea is a Black Tea named after the region of its production. Assam, India is one of only two regions in the world with native tea plants. The other such region is Southern China, where many of the teas we drink originate.
Brewing Guidelines for English Breakfast Tea
Brewing Temperature: 212° (rolling boil)
Brewing Time: 3-5 minutes
1 tsp loose tea per 8 oz cup
